Recap
NUA CLIATH’S YOUNG CORE DOMINATES BA FEARNOG IN 42-8 WIN
Brian Hanna stars in sweltering heat
Nua Cliath’s new generation made a statement Sunday at Carraigh Mór, powering past Ba Fearnog 42–8 in a sun-soaked NBFL matchup.
In oppressive heat that forced multiple water breaks, Nua Cliath’s speed and depth eventually proved too much for a Ba Fearnog side still adjusting to life without star forward Drew Tschappat.
The breakthrough came early from Jadon Maus, the youngest player ever to appear in an NBFL match. The rookie wasted little time announcing himself, firing home an early goal that ignited the crowd and set the tone for the afternoon.
Despite the early pressure, Ba Fearnog kept the game within reach through the first half with physical defense and disciplined play, trailing just 15–0 at halftime.
The second half, however, belonged entirely to Nua Cliath.
Forward Brian Hanna delivered the game’s defining performance, repeatedly breaking through the Ba Fearnog defense on the way to six goals and six assists. His combination of speed and finishing ability fueled a relentless scoring surge that quickly put the result beyond doubt.
While the scoreboard tilted heavily in Nua Cliath’s favor, Ba Fearnog still managed a historic moment. Defender Aidan Kotsch, one of the club’s young leaders, converted the first successful free in NBFL history, providing a bright spot during a difficult afternoon.
By the final whistle, Nua Cliath had turned a competitive first half into a decisive 42–8 victory, showcasing the attacking firepower of their emerging core.
For Nua Cliath, the performance reinforced the promise of a roster built around youth and pace. For Ba Fearnog, the focus now turns to regrouping and building around a new generation as the season moves forward.
Even in the punishing heat of Carraigh Mór, one thing was clear: Nua Cliath’s future is arriving faster than the rest of the league might like.
