Recap

ATHMOR DOMINATES BA FEARNOG TO OPEN SEASON

Pat Larkin sets NBHL mark with 9 goals

The NBFL season opened with a statement.

Athmor wasted little time asserting themselves Saturday, overwhelming Ba Fearnog in a 17-1 (52) to 3-2 (11) victory to kick off the new campaign.

Veteran forward Drew Tschappat scored the first goal in NBFL history just minutes into the match, threading a low strike through traffic to ignite what quickly became a one-sided affair.

From there, the day belonged to Pat Larkin.

Larkin delivered a remarkable performance, finishing with nine goals and three assists as Athmor repeatedly broke through Ba Fearnog’s defense. Whether cutting into space or finishing chances inside the boards, Larkin’s clinical scoring helped turn the opener into a rout.

Athmor’s control of the game extended beyond the scoreboard. Brock Kinney anchored the effort across the field, contributing two goals while delivering seven hits, six blocks, and seven takeaways. His presence in transition helped Athmor keep Ba Fearnog pinned back for much of the match.

Ba Fearnog continued to battle despite the mounting deficit.

Phill Bowen led the physical effort with 11 hits, repeatedly contesting possession in the middle third, while Lucas Smith and Kotsch worked to create chances as Ba Fearnog searched for a foothold.

But the numbers reflected Athmor’s dominance.

Athmor finished with 65 total shots, including 30 on goal, while Ba Fearnog managed 25 attempts under constant pressure. Athmor also controlled possession with an 81% passing rate, limiting Ba Fearnog’s opportunities to generate sustained attacks.

By the final whistle, the message was clear.

Athmor’s explosive attack and relentless pressure set an early benchmark for the NBFL season — and served notice that the side from the Great Ford will be a team to watch as the league’s inaugural campaign unfolds.
